You know when you are driving home and see a real estate sign in front of a property and you wonder how much it is selling for? Low key, you may even want to pretend a friend is searching, so you can look around inside?

You are not alone! And for good reason: knowing what properties are selling for in your neighborhood is a great way to keep your eye on what may be your biggest investment. In addition, getting a chance to look inside will let you see how others have updated homes that might be similar to yours. Viewing them can give you some great ideas on decorating, storage and even alternative ways to use the space.

You can always give me a call and I can send you a link to view it, but so you do not miss the properties that choose not to post a sign, I can also set you up to receive a monthly, automated email that has the links to every real estate happening in your neighborhood.  With photos, videos and 3D tours, you should be able to get all the information you need. Just contact me and I will set it up for you.

Now the question is: should I attend the Open House? For this Listing Agent, the answer is a resounding YES! There is no better help to me in selling a neighborhood than the people who live there and love it! So come in, be vocal and be positive! “What a beautiful kitchen!” “Too bad you cannot see her Cherry Blossoms when they are in bloom!” “I have lived on this street for 43 years and never plan to leave!”. You are absolutely welcome to come to my Open Houses!

A word of caution: there are many factors that go into the selling price of any particular home. Location, yes, but also condition, amenities, size, which buyers are out there and the seller’s motivation.  Some neighborhoods are more impacted by these factors than others. Another home in a similar neighborhood may have sold for a great deal higher and will increase the value of yours. If you get concerned about what you are seeing or if you are thinking of listing, make sure you contact me for a market analysis to get the actual value of your home.

In the meanwhile, have fun with it! Who knew you could take down that wall or that there was so much storage space behind those stairs? Minor project, anyone?
